Here we are in Vales dos Vinhedos, the beautiful wine region in the south of Brazil near the town of Bento Goncalves. Driving over the beautiful winding roads we arrive at Lidio Carraro with its beautiful logo.
Lidio Carraro is a family-owned Brazilian winery founded by descendants of Italian immigrants, who brought in the blood, hands and heart the passion to produce the best wines. They have been working in the wine business for over 5 generations and was in the privileged State of Rio Grande do Sul where they started their dream. In 2 different terroirs: Vale dos Vinhedos and Encruzilhada do sul they own around 245 hectares of land.
LIDIO CARRARO FOLLOWS A PURIST PHILOSOPHY
Lidio Carraro follows a purist philosophy which applies minimum intervention from planting the grapes to the production of the wines, symbolizing the excellence of Brazilian wine.
This means no sugar added, no corrections to the wine, hand harvested, no barrels and many more points to consider. The high complexity, strong personality and balance can be felt in every sip you take.
Once inside we were welcomed by the matron of the family, Mrs. Isabel Carraro, a very sweet woman. She suggests us to start the tasting.
We don’t give it a second thought despite the fact that we have already tasted a large part of the rich assortment, another quality wine, unknown to us, is served and, it is Lidio Carraro, so we know it is quality. We are seated in the beautiful garden room of the winery. This is life and it feels good!
Next, Mr. Juliano Carraro the enologist greets us. It was lovely to talk to them and hear about their philosophy, the love, the passion and accomplishments and to see how proud they are, and they should be! Every detail is considered, every detail has a meaning and as a family they make decisions together to bring the best to their wines.
A 100% PURE PRODUCT
Mrs. Carraro explains what can be seen in the logo. This is a bunch of grapes, in the shape of Brazil and we also see the four descendants of the family who are in charge of the company nowadays. There’s a lot of thought put into everything here. Even the label is ‘horizontal’ on the bottle, since a bottle always lies flat.
To taste a Lidio Carraro wine is to be overwhelmed, because they do not have an “average” wine, all of them are sensational!
This organic winemaker has made a deep impression in terms of wine and in terms of the story behind the winery. A 100% pure product, without any additives. What about certification? They believe it is not necessary, in their words: “we’d prefer not to use these investments for those expensive organizations but for the production and improvement of our honest product”. And so it is! We are proud to offer you this high quality product.
